Season for Peak Fees: 05/15 to 09/15 Palomar Mountain State Park features spectacular views of the Pacific, camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing (trout) in Doane Pond. Coniferous forests cover much of the 1,897 acres, in contrast with the dry lowlands surrounding the mountain. This is one of the few southern California areas with a Sierra Nevada-like atmosphere. East of the park is the world-famous Palomar Observatory. Check the State Parks website for additional information on the weather, suggested day hikes, or to see the park brochure, campground map, park photos, video, and more. Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in. Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP). Palomar Mountain State Park is now Site Specific for reservations. You will choose your site at the time a reservation is made. Help Prevent the Spread of Goldspotted Oak Borer (GSOB). Do not transport GSOB infested oak firewood. This invasive pest is killing native oaks species throughout California, and the transportation of infested firewood is accelerating the demise of these majestic trees. Buy it where you burn it. Visit: www.firewood.ca.gov Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park. Although your site may hold 2 or more vehicles, your reservation only covers 1 vehicle (except for group or specialty sites). To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants. Doane Valley: Reservations available from March 31 - November 26, 2017; 1st 1st when not on reservations EXCEPT for Sites 1-8 and 31 where reservations are available All Year. Cedar Grove Group Campground: Reservations available March 31 - November 26, 2017; closed when not on reservations. NO DOGS ALLOWED ON HIKING TRAILS! |
